PARKS & RECREATION BOARD                       June 11, 2012





The City of Cortland Parks & Recreation Board met on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 400 N. High St., Cortland, Ohio.  In attendance were the following board members:  Mike Norton, Frank Daugherty, Dave Christner and Shane Mealy; absent was John Picuri.  Also present were Mayor Curt Moll and Service Director Don Wittman.                  



Frank Daugherty made a motion to approve minutes from the May 14, 2012 meeting, seconded by Dave Christner.   ALL AYES,   MOTION APPROVED



Pearl Park


  • Parking Lot – Still want to get paved this year.  It is within the Capital Fund Budget.  Project to be started after August-September LOSA soccer season.  Frank Daugherty made a motion to Proceed with Design with 3rd Party Engineering Firm – cost of which not to exceed $7,250.  Seconded by Shane Mealy.  ALL AYES, MOTION APPROVED.  Desired timing is September bid opening.
  • Playground – still needs work – John and Shane to work on plan / schematic in July for moving of the swings, etc.  Discussed surfacing needs on the basketball court – will revisit at walk-through in 2013.
  • Walking Path – Frank Daugherty to talk to Bazetta officials regarding their path at Imagination Station and obtain information on cost and materials.
  • Service Department had cleaned up East Side Brush Lawn.


Eastlake Park

  • City needs to come up with plan to stockpile dirt when the excavation begins.  Mayor Moll to set up walk-through with Zach Svette and Hoover for later this month and will contact Board Members with time.


Willow Park

  • Discussed benches for Pickle Ball Courts – this was identified during last month’s walk-through.
  • Sprayed roof on clubhouse to clean mold, need to spray pavilion roof also.
















Dave Christner made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Frank Daugherty.  ALL AYES, MOTION APPROVED.
